Gender-based violence: Together, let's break the silence
Gender-based violence (GBV) is a tragic reality that deeply affects our society. In Côte d’Ivoire, in 2024, more than 9,600 victims were treated, including 7,950 women and 3,290 children . Although these figures reveal a growing awareness of the issue, they only reflect the tip of the iceberg. Many suffer in silence, without access to care, justice or the necessary support.
At the Attou Foundation, we firmly believe that it is time to move from words to action. It is imperative to break the silence, dismantle taboos and repair broken lives. Every victim deserves to be heard, protected and supported on their journey to recovery.
The challenges
- Physical and mental health: injuries, trauma, sexually transmitted infections, psychological disorders.
- Education and autonomy: dropping out of school, loss of professional opportunities, economic dependence.
- Social cohesion: family tensions, stigmatisation, marginalisation of victims.
- Justice and human rights: impunity, lack of legal support, barriers to accessing justice.

Upcoming projects
Voices of survivors: rebuilding and preventing
The project establishes mobile counseling centers for women victims of gender-based violence in rural areas. It also includes awareness programs in schools and a confidential SMS alert system.

Acting for our planet, acting for our communities. We support communities in limiting the effects of climate change by promoting sustainable practices and responsible management of natural resources. Every action counts towards a greener future.
Education
Learn today to grow tomorrow. We work to promote inclusive, quality education, particularly in rural areas. Providing school kits, adapted learning spaces and support for teachers: we do everything we can to ensure that every child has a chance to succeed.
Culture
Preserving our roots, sharing our identity. We promote Ivorian heritage by supporting the arts, traditions, local languages and craftsmanship. Culture is a vehicle for social cohesion and pride in our communities.
International cooperation
Stronger together. We build strong partnerships with local and international actors to pool skills and resources, thereby creating a sustainable and large-scale social impact.
Renewable Energy
Lighting up lives, protecting the future. We install clean energy solutions, such as solar kits, to bring electricity to isolated communities. Awareness-raising, training and responsible practices accompany each project to ensure sustainable development.
